willie collumWillie Collum has been taken out of the spotlight this weekend and given the task of refereeing the Championship clash between Livingston and Queen of the South.

Since being announced as Scotland’s representative at Euro 2016 Collum has kicked up a storm of protest for awarding four penalties in the Falkirk v Sevco match followed by Aberdeen’s 2-2 draw with Inverness Caley Thistle. Tomorrow night Collum will take charge of the Dundee v Celtic match.

This weekend with six Premiership fixtures plus Hibs, Sevco and Falkirk battling for the Championship the SFA have decided to keep Scotland’s leading referee out of the limelight with the Livingston v Queen of the South match.

Throughout 2015 wherever he has refereed the Lanarkshire whistler hasn’t been far from controversy. At the start of the year he had red cards to Kenny McLean and Stephen McManus overturned on appeal, in August Robbie Neilson explained that he prepares Hearts to play with ten men when Collum is in charge while his recent penalty exploits have infuriated supporters of four clubs.

Since sending off Callum Paterson against Hearts, another decision that was over turned on appeal, Collum hasn’t been in charge of any fixtures involving the Tynecastle club.

This weekend the televised Dundee v Dundee United match will be refereed by Kevin Clancy with Bobby Madden in charge of the St Johnstone v Aberdeen game on Sunday.

Celtic’s derby match against Partick Thistle will be refereed by Stephen Finnie with John Beaton, Alan Muir and Greg Aitken the other referees on Premiership duty.

Funny that Collum has been sent to the minors yet we receive no reply or have not been advised of the McLean incident which cost us the Treble last year.
We just accept that we are second class citizens and accept it.

mclean didnt cost us the treble. we were still leading when he didnt award the penalty.
our inability to defend a lead and score goals when creating chances, not to mention the inability to take corners, cost us the treble last year.
the blame culture at ibrokes is coming into the celtic mindset

We should have had a penalty and playing against 10 men for the rest of the game. That’s game changing.

Wrong degsy, I would say it was the cheating officials that caused us the treble, what was the chances of Inverness winning if they were down to ten men, and Celtic even missing the penalty they should have got.
I would say 99% Inverness would not have won the match.
Five officials were watching what happened, it was cheating pure and simple. Would the situation where Craig Gordon was sent off even have happened if Inverness were down to ten men?
I find it hard to believe you are a Celtic supporter degsy.

Our lack of manager cost us the treble. Also, winning the treble in Scotland recently would only be papering over the cracks we have. It would lead us to believe we have a decent manager!

Gollum now starting to get his rewards (Euros)for appropriate behavior in the past.

No words need to be spoken between parties for each party to know what is expected, behave a certain way and the rewards follow. What happens next is that others see the path to future reward and follow it, enter Mr McLean.
