CiftciNadir Ciftci will miss Celtic’s trip to Stranraer after picking up a retrospective two match ban from last season’s explosive Dundee United v Celtic match at Tannadice.

Ciftci clashed with Scott Brown early in the match with Paul Paton and Virgil van Dijk ordered off on the say so of bungling assistant referee Graham Chambers.

Van Dijk and Paton had their red cards overturned, on appeal allowing them to play in the League Cup Final the following week, with Ciftci handed a two match Scottish Cup ban.

The Turkish striker was already suspended for the League Cup Final and also sat out the Scottish Cup replay between the two side.

Ten months later Ciftci completes his suspension leaving Ronny Deila with just Leigh Griffiths and Carlton Cole to chose from for the trip to Stair Park.

Announcing their actions after the 1-1 draw at Tannadice the SFA stated: “Alleged Party in Breach: Nadir Ciftci (Dundee United)
Match: Dundee United v Celtic (Scottish Cup) – Sunday, 8th March 2015

Disciplinary Rule(s) allegedly breached:

Disciplinary Rule 200: In that at the above game you committed an act of Violent Conduct and deliberately kicked an opposing player, Scott Brown of Celtic FC, upon the head.

Fixed Suspension offer: Yes – two matches (one match to be served immediately, irrespective of competition, and one match to be served in the Scottish Cup).

Principal Hearing date: Thursday, 12th March 2015

Mr Ciftci has until 3pm on Wednesday, 11th March 2015 to respond to the complaint.

Celtic won the Scottish Cup replay 4-0 with Anthony Stokes and Ryan McGowan sent off in the last five minutes.

Thank F**k! Ciftci is awful, absolutely awful.

A very lazy player with an extremely poor first touch,
little to no game awareness that invariably leads to Ciftci failing to link up play,

No pace and quite obviously a weight problem.

It’s January, 5 months since signing and being paid to be a professional athlete, and Ciftci is obviously unfit and overweight!

An appalling signing who has added nothing to Celtic, apart from a questionable attitude.

Do you think the celtic starting 11 is better man for man than the Liam Brady team back in the 90s?

  • graeme says:

aye, players in scotland so you sign 3 and possibly a fourth from the same club.
you cant get the best out of one of them so blame the player.
no fault of the coaching staff then?
