John Hughes has made a bizarre plea to Anthony Stokes by promising to kick his backside into shape!
Inverness Caley Thistle have made a formal approach to take the player out on loan with Celtic keen to see the striker in action elsewhere.
Hughes took Stokes to Falkirk and Hibs and would love to link up with the Irishman for a third time.
“The best place for Anthony Stokes at the moment is Inverness, away out of the way getting his football back on track,” Hughes said after his side drew 0-0 at Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup. “Celtic recognise that, I recognise that, everybody recognises that.
“I kick his backside, get the best out of him. He needs to be playing regular football in a starting XI.
“Lo and behold, he thinks: ‘oh, I’m allowed out on loan, that’s open house for everybody’. No, it’s not. The best place for you, and everyone at Celtic and Inverness can see, is for you to come up and play with me.
“Get your head down, score goals, get fit, and maybe get yourself in the Euro Championships. But as soon as he’s heard the whisper of going out on loan, it’s open house to everyone.
“It’ll be down to the player. John Collins has said he’s going on loan, but it’s all about playing football, going and enjoying it, scoring goals. He’s a lovable rogue, a bit like myself, so the two of us are quite compatible, I’ve been trying to phone him but he’ll not answer it!”
Hibs are also believed to be interested in taking Stokes back to Edinburgh with the player thought to be keen on trying his luck in Edinburgh.
Think he should go to ICT, and would love to see him play against us to show Ronny that this guy is better than half of his!
He can be booboo
I don’t think that’s so bizarre. Putting bots up arses is what a manager or coach *should* do … and which it appears ours are constituionally incapable of doing.
As a player and Irishman i want Stokes playing at Celtic and for Ireland. I don’t like Ronnie Deila as a manager he has brought in a lot of sh**e and kept one of our best strikers on the bench.
He should be up front with Leigh and Commons playing just behind them . Then you will see a Avalanche of goals. Strikes thrive on confidence and so far the manager is playing silly buggers with the best players we have .
Stoksey it’s time to pull the lead out Bhoy and show the clown just how good you are.
