Aidan NesbittCeltic’s UEFA Youth League tie with Valencia will be played at Celtic Park on Wednesday February 10 with a 5pm kick off.

The match will be played to a finish on the night with live television details expected to be announced shortly with the winners going through to the last 16 of the competition which will also be a one off tie.

Tommy McIntyre’s u-19 side have beaten HJK Helsinki and the Puskas Academy to reach this stage with Valencia finishing as runners-up in their Champions League group, finishing level with Lyon on 13 points.

Both of the previous matches have been played at Livingston but the switch of venue will give most of the players their first taste of playing at Celtic Park.

Celtic qualified for the tournament by winning last season’s u-17 league and were placed in the Champions section of the draw.

In their opening match away to HJK Helsinki a hat-trick from Aidan Nesbitt plus goals from Regan Hendry and Calvin Miller produced an emphatic 5-0 win with Nesbitt on target in the return leg which was drawn 1-1.

The Puskas Academy took a 1-0 lead to Livingston but goals from Theo Archibald and Miller put Celtic in front before half time in the return match with Miller clinching the tie in extra time.

Valencia won home and away against Zenit and Gent, lost 1-0 away to Lyon then drew the final group match 1-1 at home with Lyon.

With the French side having the better of the head to head matches they moved straight into the last 16 of the competition leaving Valencia with an away match against a side from the Champions route to reach the same stage.

Tomorrow Celtic will be in action against St Johnstone in the SFA Youth Cup (u-20’s) with the match played to a finish at Station Park Forfar with a 3pm kick off.
