Leigh Griffiths expects to see Patrick Roberts play a leading role in the title run-in.

The on-loan Manchester City teenager was given a ten minute run against Inverness Caley Thistle on Saturday as Celtic moved six points ahead of Aberdeen.

Griffiths scored twice in that match to take his Premiership tally for the season to 24 with the former Hibs striker impressed by the impact that Roberts has made at the club.

He looked very, very dangerous when he came on,” Griffiths said about the 19-year-old. “I have seen him in training and he is very direct and wants to get past people.

You saw a little glimpse of what he can do and I am sure there is a lot more to come. I am not sure he saw me at that chance, but if he had I am sure he would have passed.

I am just happy he got minutes on the pitch and he will be a big, big signing for us.”

While Roberts has a role to play there’s no doubt over who has been the main man in Celtic’s push for the title.

With 24 goals from 24 games Griffiths has scored six times as many goals as second top scorer Tom Rogic with the striker looking to continue that run at Hamilton on Friday night.

Hopefully, I can go on and score a lot more this season and I am looking forward to the next game and that is Hamilton.

I got a hat-trick against them last month and, hopefully, I can get on the scoresheet against them again.”
