Edin DzekoEdin Dzeko missed the sitter of season last night but still scored twice last night as Roma beat Palermo 5-0 last night in Serie A.

The on loan Manchester City striker suffered his Van Vossen moment in the 27th minute of the match with the game goal-less.

Dzeko was unmarked yards from the back post when Douglas Maicon cut back from the right byline, but with the goal at his mercy the Bosnian skewed a left-footed shot back across the face of goal and wide when a tap-in with his right would have done the trick.

Across twitter supporters looked on in amazement with the match shown live on BT Sport.

Dzeko is on a season long loan from Manchester City with last night’s double taking his total for the season to eight.

After a ten match scoring drought the striker netted in the 3-1 win away to Capri last Friday with the double against Palermo suggesting that he quickly put the horror miss to the back of his mind.

Since the Juventus match fixing scandal Italian football has been left in the shadow with the domestic leagues of Spain and Germany attracting the attention of neutral football supporters.

Roma have suffered some hammerings in the Champions League in recent seasons with a 6-1 loss at Barcelona in November followed by a predictable 2-0 defeat from Real Madrid last week in the last 16 of the elite competition.

Despite no longer being a force in UEFA competition this season’s Serie A race is the most competitive for some time with Napoli on top of the table following their 5-1 win over Empoli, two points ahead of Juventus.
