DeilaRonny Deila said that he understands the frustrations of supporters following the 0-0 draw away to Dundee.

Celtic have drawn three of their last six matches and hold a five point lead over Aberdeen with six matches left to play.

The final whistle at Dens Park was met by a chorus of booing by many Celtic fans as the expected seven point advantage turned into a three point lead.

“Football is about emotions and, when you don’t get the victory, the fans get irritated and sad – that’s something I understand,” the Celtic boss said.

“We’re still in a good position. We have to make ourselves ready for Motherwell on Saturday and work really hard to get the three points there.

“It’s always disappointing to lose points but there are a lot of games left and we just have to keep on going. Of course we have the key in our hands. Everything is up to ourselves.”

From early on it seemed that Celtic were in for a tough night with two and sometimes three Dundee players marking Patrick Roberts while Leigh Griffiths appeared out of touch.

Kris Commons and Callum McGregor remained on the bench throughout the match with the introduction of Stuart Armstrong for Gary Mackay-Steven in the 88th minute baffling the traveling support.

With Erik Sviatchenko picking up an injury midway through the second half it was a night that few will look back on fondly.

“It’s a little bit disappointing,” Deila added. “We should have created more clear-cut chances,” he said. “The last pass and the effectiveness when we first had the ball was not good enough.

“Defensively we played quite well. They had a couple of chances but we had a good goalkeeper in Craig.

“We maybe could have got the ball to Patrick more but, having said that, there was one player standing up his a**e all the time. We should have exploited the space he was creating for us, though.”

On Saturday Celtic face Motherwell at Fir Park with Aberdeen away to Hearts on Friday night.
