Stefan Johansen could be available for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Lincoln Red Imps.

The midfielder limped out of last Saturday’s friendly against Maribor and was expected to be out of action for two to three weeks.

Midfield is one area that Rodgers is well covered- the Irishman joked that he had players in that area- but with Champions League qualifiers coming up the return of Johansen could be vital.

“He (Johansen) should be able to train on Monday, he has had an injection in it which has settled it right down,” Rodgers revealed after the 2-1 win over Wolfsborg. “The idea is he will make the first steps on Monday and we will see how he is for Wednesday.

“As you will probably know more than me, we have got enough midfield players. I don’t need to worry about losing a midfield player, I think we have another 20 to pick from.”

Erik Sviachenko picked up a head knock but should be fit to face Lincoln Red Imps although Nir Bitton could be a doubt.

He (Bitton) was in a lot of pain yesterday,” the Celtic boss added. “We didn’t have to risk him and we will see how he is for Wednesday.”

The loss of Sviachenko would be a massive blow for Wednesday but Rodgers was happy to joke about the Dane’s injury.

He has spoiled his good looks for a few days but he is fine,” the Celtic boss explained. “There was obviously a clash of heads and he was a bit swollen below the eye but apart from that he is fine. I believe he will be fine.”
