Former Celtic keeper Jordan Hart has left Annan Athletic to join Championship side Ayr United.

The 20-year-old moved to Annan after being freed by Celtic at the end of the 2014/15 season- signing off after the 5-2 SFA Youth Cup win over Sevco- and made 30 appearances as the borders side missed out on a play-off spot by one goal.

Hart was a regular Scotland youth cap but failed to establish himself in the Celtic Development side with Leo Fasan the regular first choice.

Speaking to the Ayr United website, manager Ian McCall said: “Obviously he is still very young however played nearly every game for Annan last season and we see great potential in him.

Our goalie coach Robert Glen knows him very well as he was with him when they were at Celtic. Greg (Fleming) will start the season as number one as earned that with his performances last season however its up to Jordan to work hard and try and get in the team.”

As well as their impressive league form Annan’s exploits in the Scottish Cup put Hart in the spotlight highlighted by their 4-1 win over Hamilton Accies.

Following that victory Annan chairman Henry McClelland said: “I’m quite humbled at seeing the effect it’s had on everyone.

The clubhouse has been absolutely heaving and everyone’s been really enjoying it. I looked around, and it was mostly people who have been about the club for years and years. This success is as much about them as it is the guys on the field.”

Hart will make his debut for Ayr in today’s friendly against Stenhousemuir.
