Brendan Rodgers won’t be using the Champions League qualifier with Lincoln Red Imps to tinker with his team.

Last week’s 1-0 defeat in Gibraltar provided a brutal wake up call about the squad Rodgers had inherited and the obstacles to be overcome to reach the Champions League.

The former Liverpool boss claimed that the 1-0 defeat wasn’t embarrassing but isn’t contemplating another inquest tomorrow night.

“Tomorrow night is a night where we need to qualify,” he said. “We experiment on the training field and in some friendly games.

We want to get through, we have two games overall to do it, and however we do it we’ll accept that

I’ll always pick the best team to win the game and the team that will play tomorrow will be the best XI I think for it . Tomorrow is about getting the job done.”

Celtic will unveil last season’s Premiership flag before the match with Rodgers looking forward to his competitive debut in front of the fans who turned out in their thousands to welcome him to Glasgow.

The Irishman added: “The Celtic support understand the game and they know football. Patience is something they’re accustomed to.

Our team will always be set up to create and score goals. If that doesn’t come you just have to be patient

Hopefully tomorrow we get as many as we can, it’ll give a great boost to the players, and start this journey.”

If Celtic get past Lincoln Red Imps they will play the winners of the Astrana v Zalgiris tie in the third qualifying round.
