Galatasaray are hoping to sign Stefan Johansen in a €1.5m deal.

According to the Turkish website Sports Toro a €1m bid has been put to Celtic who are looking for double that figure for the midfielder who has less than a year left on his contract.

Johansen captained Celtic in the 1-0 win over Sturm Graz on Sunday but Brendan Rodgers has almost a dozen midfield options.

Talks about a new deal for the 25-year-old midfielder have been making slow progress suggesting that both parties would be happy to move on.

Speaking in May shortly after Rodgers had been appointed Johansen said: ‘We have been in contract negotiations for a while, but I have not signed anything yet,’ he said. ‘We’ll see if it happens or not.

I completely trust that my agent does what is best for me. I have a year left on my contract with Celtic and I’m focusing on that. I will not say any more.”

Johansen joined Celtic in January 2014 in a £2.2m deal from Stromsgodset and was followed to Glasgow five months later by Ronny Deila.

After a Player-of-the-Year performance during the 2014/15 season his form took a dip last season amid rumours that he was looking to move on.

Hamburg were closely linked to the midfielder who has been a regular Norwegian international throughout his time in Glasgow.

Johansen’s agent Tore Pedersen is keen to take the midfielder to the Turkish league. With Espanyol reportedly interested in Nir Bitton there could be major changes to the Celtic midfield for next season.
