Aiden McGeady’s hopes of reviving his career suffered another blow last week when Everton fans turned on him during the 3-1 friendly win against MK Dons.
With Ronald Koeman in charge and new investment in the club Everton are expected to be among the biggest spenders in the transfer window.
A loan move to Sheffield Wednesday failed to suit player or club while Euro 2016 saw the former Celt reduced to a couple of substitute appearances despite starting the campaign as the match winner with a double away to Georgia.
For whatever reason or reasons it seems that the fantastically gifted teenager that thrilled supporters coming through the ranks at Celtic no longer has an appetite for the game after a season of misery.
Aiden Mcgeady. How is he still at Everton? How is he a footballer? https://t.co/3YO5tR7ccN

Aiden McGeady is like a special kid who won a raffle to play a game for Everton.

Relations with Roberto Martinez broke down following a red card against West Ham in an FA Cup replay in January 2015 with his lack of club activity having a knock on effect with his international career.
Having turned 30, lived the dream at Celtic, earned the roubles and played in ‘the best league in the world’ it looks like McGeady’s ambitions have been satisfied.
For a few years it has been assumed that he’d finish his career at Celtic but unless things pick up sharpish the end could be much quicker than he anticipated.
As Brendan Rodgers builds his new look squad McGeady isn’t among the vast list of names sitting in front of the Celtic boss.
Another loan stint in the Championship seems as appealing as six months in Sheffield, perhaps it might take a loan spell to Italy or Spain for the stubborn midfielder to turn his career round and prove to the critics that he still has plenty to offer.
