Brendan Rodgers believes that Celtic are getting stronger game by game fueled by new signing Scott Sinclair.

The hoops boss was speaking after watching his side demolish Motherwell 5-0 on the back of hard fought wins over Astana and Hearts.

New signings Sinclair and Moussa Dembele netted three of the goals with Motherwell having no answer to the pace and power of the home side. For good measure Tom Rogic scored the other goals the day after signing a new three year contract.

It was almost a flawless performance with Rodgers delighted by the way his side is developing as they prepare to face Hapoel Beer Sheva in a play-off for a place in the group phase of the Champions League.

Game on game we are getting better and you saw the introduction of the type of players I’m looking to bring here,” the Irishman said.

Scotty Sinclair added a totally different dimension to the team. He can break lines, he runs without the ball and that encourages others to run without the ball and all of a sudden the dynamic of the team totally changes.

Importantly for us, particularly in the second half, we were aggressive in our pressing in the game. That counter-pressing was very important. When we lost the ball, we were very quickly able to regain the ball back. If you can do that high up the pitch, you get more chances to score goals.

As the game went on, we had a pleasing moment in the 88th minute when we still had the players running, pressing and being aggressive.”

Rogic opened the scoring in the 20th minute with an acrobatic strike from 15 yards out to finish off an impressive passing move.

Sinclair was sent tumbling to the deck in the 34th minute with Dembele converting the penalty with style.

After the break Sinclair and Dembele killed the tie stone dead before Rogic completed the scoring in the 76th minute.

In the quarter-final draw Celtic have been paired with Alloa Athletic who beat Inverness Caley Thistle 1-0 on Tuesday night with former Celts Jim Goodwin, Calum Waters, Jason Marr, Greig Spence and Kevin Cawley all involved for the League One side.
