Davie Weir will face no action for his sending off at Celtic on Saturday.

According to a report in The Sun the Ibrox number two has been let off scot-free despite a rant at fourth official Kevin Clancy that resulted in an instant dismissal from Willie Collum.

Weir was apparently upset by the decision not to red card Mikael Lustig after the Celtic defender fouled Barrie Mackay.

The Ibrox bench believed that Lustig had already been booked with Weir lashing out with a foul mouthed rant at Clancy.

After the match Mark Warburton claimed: “The sending off (Senderos) I can’t defend, it’s a red card. The frustration for us came at that 3-1, it was an uphill struggle, we felt that Barrie Mackay was taken out by a player on a yellow card. That’s when David Weir was sent to the stand.

We felt, we never ever want to see players sent off, he (Senderos) had to go, he had to go, absolutely, red card. But we felt on the far side Barrie Mackay clear as day taken out, David Weir said he had to go, the referee turned round and said ok. At that point we were very frustrated.”

It seems that the pressure of the game effected the former city trader since Lustig hadn’t been booked. Since the 5-1 reverse Warbo has claimed that there was no gulf between the teams, that it wasn’t a 5-1 match and that it wasn’t Rangers that played.

One out of three isn’t bad for the former Brentford supremo, maybe he can apply some logic to his club’s audited accounts which are due to be published in the next couple of weeks.
