Betting on SPL matches is a popular form of fun for many Scottish football fans. During the summer there aren’t many matches to bet on and most markets look ahead to the new season, so many punters are looking for alternatives. Playing online casino games is a viable choice, especially since nowadays it is possible to play real money casino games on your mobile phone. CasinoShorts.com rates the best mobile casinos in the UK for you to check out when the Bhoys aren’t playing but there are plenty of football bets to get involved with now that the SPL is in full swing and…

The Old Firm is back!

Celtic have been more than dominant in Scottish football in the past five years. This was one of the happiest periods at Celtic Park as the club managed to claim five consecutive titles. Some acclaim it to the fact that Rangers were relegated and managed to return to the Premiership only this season, but that is just one of the reasons.

Celtic FC is a club deeply proud of its tradition and the players are always driven by a desire for success. The return of Rangers is actually an additional motivation, for players and fans alike. The ‘Old Firm’ is back and, honestly, Scottish football isn’t complete without it. Despite the fact that Rangers are back, Celtic are still the favourites to win the league.

Celtic will claim another title

It is not difficult to see why Celtic will almost certainly win the title again this year:
– Rangers have just been promoted and aren’t really a match for Celtic, there is still a large difference in terms of quality and readiness;
– None of the other clubs can come even close as it has been seen in the past 5 years;
– Brendan Rodgers is an experienced manager who is certainly eager to win a title with Celtic;
– Touré, Moussa Dembélé and Scott Sinclair will definitely boost the club’s performances and will prove to be very useful additions to an otherwise great club.

Celtic are so dominant that most bookies offer odds on Celtic to win the league as small as 1/16, 1/18 or even 1/33. Rangers are considered to be second in line and the odds for them are 14/1. Moreover, bookies also offer betting on which team will win the title if we exclude Celtic, i.e. which team will finish second. And that market is a lot more competitive.

Can Celtic lift any other trophies?!

The Scottish Premier League isn’t the only competition Celtic hope to win this season. The club has fair chances of winning the FA Cup, the League Cup and they have also qualified to the group stage of the Champions League.
– The best odds for Celtic to win the FA Cup are 13/8;
– The best odds for Celtic to win the League Cup are 11/10;
– The best odds for Celtic to finish second in their Champions League Group are 20/1;
– The best odds for Celtic to reach the Champions League Final are 750/1.

The third bet offers a lot higher odds compared to the first two, but it will be really difficult to progress in a group with both Barcelona and Manchester City. Celtic have only scored one point in the initial two matches. The crushing defeat in the opening match against Barcelona didn’t look to good, but the draw against City looked promising. Defender Tierney was pretty confident back in August, and there’s still hope that Celtic will defy the odds in the Champions League.

If not one of the first two spots then, they will surely be able to manage to reach at least the third position which will lead the club to the Europa League. It may be of lower quality compared to the Champions League, but it is still a prestigious competition. Let’s not forget that in 2017 we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Celtic’s European Cup title.
