Former Rangers (IL) winger Vladimir Weiss won’t be playing for Slovakia against Scotland after being arrested in Bratislava.

Weiss refused to take a breathalyser or blood test when stopped by police and was dropped by Slovakia boss Jan Kozak for this week’s international double header.

After being turned down by Celtic for a loan deal in 2010 Weiss moved to Ibrox from Manchester City and quickly bought into the fan culture.

With his career floundering in Qatar at Al Gharafa he still enjoys the adulation of the Ibrox support with most of his social media messages including the phrase WATP.

His popularity isn’t quite as high with the Slovakian national team with Kozak showing no sympathy for the winger who scored at Euro 2016 in France.

The Slovak boss said: “Regarding Vladimir Weiss, we tried to contact him but unfortunately we failed. We got in touch with his lawyer who said he would be with us in a short time.

I’ll talk to him. Regardless of whether he is guilty or innocent, I decided that he will not play in the next two matches because we need to work in peace.

We’ll see how the investigation goes and then we will draw conclusions.

He is a valuable player for us, a key player but Slovakia has enough quality football players, and others must be given a chance.”

Weiss now faces an anxious wait to see how Al Gharafa react to the charges.#
