Stewart Regan’s Roll of Honour

Slovakia and Macedonia- who’d have thought it.

Six years after Stewart Regan was appointed chief executive of the SFA Scotland are plundering down the world rankings at a record rate.

Already the 2018 World Cup Finals are beyond the senior team with a draw at home to Lithuania and being turned over by Slovakia a fair reflection on where Gordon Strachan’s team stands. The hard luck stories about Euro 16 are now even shakier.

At u-21 level things are even bleaker. Defeat in Macedonia left Scotland second bottom of Group 3 behind Macedonia, Iceland and Ukraine.

New u-21 boss Scott Gemmill can now get to work with the next batch to come through the SFA factory- the squad that lost all three matches without scoring a single goal in last summer’s Eurpean Championships.

It’s not really the sort of record to impress on Regan’s CV but at least he has worked tirelessly to restore the Old Firm derby.

With anti-catholic singing welcomed across the country, a pitched battle requiring mounted police going unpunished at the showpiece domestic final and the national team in freefall what will it take to bring about change?

The removal of all those behind the Five Way Agreement would be a start followed by government intervention putting transparency at the heart of the national sport.
