Moussa Dembele has relived the chance that he had to draw Celtic level against Barcelona.

Trailing to Lionel Messi’s first half goal Celtic substitute James Forrest swung in an inviting cross to Dembele 10 yards from goal.

It looked like the perfect chance to draw level but the former Fulham man was unable to get enough on his header to reach the net with Marc-Andre ter Stegen to dive to his right and save.

I tried to put the ball back across the keeper but he saved it,” the striker recalled in The Sun. “I tried to generate power on the cross and it didn’t work.

That’s the way it is. Sometimes you miss, sometimes you score. You just have to hold your head up and focus on the next challenge.

The score in Barcelona was disappointing but I think we won our reputation back as a team before this game.

We have been doing brilliantly in the league and the cups. That is something that has been building this season.”

Despite that miss Dembele has been the big find of Celtic’s Champions League campaign scoring three goals in five appearances.

His double against Manchester City plus another double for France against the England u-21 side has brought the Celtic striker to the attention of Europe’s richest clubs.

Cross border regulations allowed Celtic to sign the striker from Fulham for just £500,000 during the summer with bidding likely to start at £20m for the 20-year-old who signed a four year contract when he moved to Glasgow.
