Joe Garner believes that Mark Warburton’s ‘young team’ are about to take the SPFL by storm!

Showing the arrogance that seems built into the marble stairway of dignity the former Preston ace has written off the prospects of the other sides in the league.

Reaching the giddy height of second place has sent a surge of misplaced optimism throughout Mark Warburton’s squad as they lifted their goal difference into plus figures.

The dream-team midfield of Josh Windass (22), Jason Holt (23) and Andy Halliday (25) are the main drivers behind the optimism with Niko Kranjcar and Joey Barton unlikely to pull on a Bet32 jersey again.

Niko’s a top, top player and he brings a lot of experience to a lot of the younger lads that we do have here at the club,” Garner claimed about the ageing star that was hooked off by Warbo 45 minutes into the Glasgow derby. “He will be a huge miss for us but hopefully he comes back stronger. It will be tough going without him but the young lads have stepped up lately.

“Josh has been playing really well, Holty and Andy are on form as well. The gaffer knows what he’s doing but hopefully we should be okay with those guys in the team.”

Goals against St Johnstone and Kilmarnock have lifted Garner’s tally for the season to three putting him on course to smash through last season’s six goal tally.

At £1.8m the 28-year-old was the second biggest summer signing in the SPFL behind Celtic’s £3.5m fee paid for Scott Sinclair.

With one win out of their last three matches Garner believes that Sevco are about to strike clear of the pack and chase Celtic all the way to the title.

“We have played well the last few games and we are looking forward to the game at the weekend,” he said by-passing the draw with St Johnstone and Hampden defeat from Celtic. “We will keep working hard and go on from there.

“We are not looking behind us. As a team we are looking up and hopefully we can put a little run together.

“We just take it game by game. Hopefully we can put three points up at the weekend against Ross County.

“We have watched a few videos of County and they have been a bit unlucky. We will go into the game confident after playing really well on Saturday and we are confident we can get a result up there.”
