Managing a club from Ibrox usually brings a certain level of respect and dignity.

When Ally McCoist was struggling against taxi drivers and plumbers the excuses were easy to find.

All sort of reasons were found to cover the shortcomings of a guy who got knocked out of cup competitions by Forfar, Alloa, Queen of the South and Raith Rovers.

With out going into specifics Dave King slaughtered the performance of Mark Warburton’s summer signings when the South African based criminal jetted in for last week’s AGM.

Warbo, who used to work as a city trader, was left in no doubt that there will be no January warchest until he ships out some of his disastrous summer signings.

Neil McCann is the type who can generally be relied upon to make excuses for anything coming out of Ibrox but didn’t pull any punches as he hammered Warbo’s summer recruits.

Speaking to the Daily Record he said: “Joey Barton was an absolute disaster, Jordan Rossiter and Matt Crooks have been unlucky with injuries so you can’t point the finger at them.

Philippe Senderos? What’s happened to him? Niko Kranjcar was nowhere near fit when he came from Cosmos.

He was miles off the pace of the Scottish game. He was just starting to find it then he gets this horrible injury. The list goes on but Joe Garner is the big flagship signing

If you’re paying £1.8m on a player you have to say he’s the one who’ll make a difference.

Look at Brendan Rodgers across the city. I know we’re talking different levels but it’s relative. They could afford Scott Sinclair but £1.8m is still a big outlay for Rangers and look at the difference in impact.

Don’t spend all your money on someone you’ve then got to adapt to how you play. That’s where I’ve got a problem with it. There’s a guy playing through the middle that looks like he’s in the wrong movie.”

On Wednesday Hearts host Sevco knowing that a win will lift them above the tribute act into second place. Aberdeen visit Ibrox on Saturday.

McCann was contracted to a £500,000 EBT during his spell as a Rangers (IL) player, like Alex Rae, Steven Thompson, Barry Ferguson and Alex McLeish.
