Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Scott Brown’s injury ‘must be something sore’ after the Celtic skipper was substituted an hour into Celtic’s 3-0 win over Inverness Caley Thistle.

On Wednesday Brown was named in the Scotland squad to face England at Wembley but Gordon Strachan now faces an anxious wait to find out if he will have his former skipper available for the trip to London.

Mikael Lustig was substituted early on in the match with Rodgers waiting to find out the extent of the injuries to his international duo.

After the 3-0 win over Inverness the Celtic boss said: “I haven’t spoke to them yet so I’m not sure how they are with the internationals coming up. We know that when those players, who have been outstanding in my time here, to come off it must be something pretty sore. We’ll have to assess that.”

Rodgers made four changes to the Celtic side that drew 1-1 away to Borussia Monchengladbach but saw his side go in on level terms at the interval.

Three minutes into the second half Scott Sinclair made the breakthrough with further goals from Leigh Griffiths and substitute Tom Rogic putting the hoops 10 points clear of Aberdeen in second place.
