Martyn Waghorn looks to be on his way out of Ibrox as austerity finally arrives at the club.

The summer madness of signing a 33-year-old on £20,000 plus per week was ended yesterday with news of Joey Barton’s departure and a costly pay off.

A number of sources are quoting Bristol City as having an interest in Waggers who has only managed to score one goal this season.

The former Wigan striker has struggled to cope with the step up in class from last season and has scored just one goal since moving up to the Premiership.

Mark Warburton has been playing down spending plans for the January transfer window after bringing in 11 new faces during the summer.

Dave King’s frustrations were clear to see in the club accounts when he highlighted the expectations he had for a squad that had a significantly bigger budget than all but one (Celtic) club in the division.

None of Warbo’s summer signings have made any improvement to the club with the wages of Barton, Niko Kranjcar and Jodan Rossiter draining the best part of £50,000/week from Mr King’s warchest.

Selling Waghorn could being in around £300,000 but the main benefit will be in reducing the wage bill.

In October Sevco required loans totalling £2.75m from directors to continue trading with a further emergency loan expected to be required in March.
