Not so long ago there was a great debate over the merits of zonal marking and traditional man to man marking at set-pieces.

Jostling, jersey pulling and in some cases all in wrestling appear to be an important part of preparing for set-pieces as every advantage is chased.

Yesterday, under soccer revolutionary Mark Warburton, Sevco brought a whole new dimension to the debate when they fouled each other.

While Ross County were preparing their corners in midweek it’s unlikely that they would have been considering that their opponents would be taking out one of their team-mates.

Yesterday in Dingwall that was exactly what happened as all of Andrew Davies’ birthdays came at one as he nodded Ross County level in the 26th minute.

With the ball in flight Rob Kiernan can be seen body-checking Clint Hill as the veteran attempts to get closer to Davies.

In an afternoon of erratic refereeing the only surprise was that Andrew Dallas didn’t blow for a free kick as Hill was blocked allowing Davies a free header.

It looks like there will be some fresh ideas to be implemented at Murray Park this week as Warbo and his video analysis boys chew over the goal lost in Dingwall.
