Torino are preparing a fresh bid for Jozo Simunovic.

According to a report in The Sun the Italian side are ready to follow up their botched bid from August when the Croatian underwent a club medical before the deal collapsed.

It would seem that the Italian side are wasting their time with Simunovic recently going on record to say that he’s not thinking of a January switch and Celtic in no need to sell the player.

At the time of his August visit to Turin there were conflicting reports over why the transfer wasn’t completed.

Torino were aware that the defender hadn’t played since January and was returning from knee surgery when he flew out.

Some reports claimed that he failed the club medical but that sort of information can rarely be verified.

A month ago Calcio News revealed details of the deal with Torino wanting to downgrade the transfer to a loan deal that would become permanent after one first team appearance.

Celtic pulled the plug on that lose lose deal and have carefully brought the 22-year-old back to fitness.

Simunovic is still being played once a week with the exception being his appearances against Barcelona and Aberdeen within five days.

Having reneged on a previous deal it’s highly unlikely that Celtic will entertain a January move although Torino will probably make a final move next summer for the defender.
