Torino are preparing a January bid for Jozo Simunovic after trying to get the Celtic defender in on LOAN during the summer.

A report in Calcio News claims that the Italian side are back on the defenders trail with a fee of €4m mentioned.

Simunovic travelled to Turin at the end of August with mystery surrounding the reasons why the deal fell through.

According to Calcio News Torino wanted to downgrade the deal to a loan that would become permanent following one first team appearance. Sporting Director Gianluca Petrarchi has been given the task of reviving the transfer after it fell through.

Celtic wisely pulled the plug on that offer with Brendan Rodgers carefully nursing the defender back to full fitness.

Simunovic has been used sparingly but after playing 90 minutes against Barcelona he is expected to start tomorrow’s Betfred Cup Final against Aberdeen.

Celtic are unlikely to be interested in a January deal- especially after Torino moved the goalposts in January.

Simunovic has gone on record as saying that he doesn’t want to move in January, preferring to settle at Celtic after his move from Dinamo Zagreb in August 2015.

Various fees were mentioned in relation to that deal with the Croatian team viewing Celtic as a stepping stone for Simunovic into a more lucrative league.
