Matthew Knox has snubbed the chance to work with Mark Warburton and signed a new two and a half year deal with Livingston.

The 16-year-old spent a week training with Sevco at the state-of-the-art Murray Park training complex in March which was followed up by a bid of £75,000.

Knox made his Livi debut last season just four days after turning 16 and demonstrated his ability directly to Warbo when Livi beat Sevco 1-0 in April.

The teenager was subjected to the full treatment as the Sevco boss explained his development philosophy and the benefits of life at Murray Park.

At the end of April The Scotsman reported Warbo saying: “Matthew is a talented young player, there’s talks going on – obviously.

He is a young talented player and as a club we have to make sure we get the best young talents and bring them in. We have to look to get the best possible player available throughout the age groups.”

Knox has had two training stints with Manchester United this year but has mainly been used as a substitute and with Livingston’s Development side this season.

Yesterday the Livingston website announced that he had agreed a new two and a half year contract extension with the League One leaders who are 10 points clear and on course for a return to The Championship next season.
