It was another ruthless display that had the fans singing ‘We’ve won the league again, fly the flag,’ from early in the second half.
A ten minute spell either side of half time showed Celtic at their devastating best highlighted by Stuart Armstrong.
Not many holding midfielders can the ability or confidence to charge into the six yard box but that’s exactly what the former Dundee United man did when he saw Leigh Griffiths taking on Ziggy Gordon the Partick right-back.
Armstrong’s run was perfection as he jabbed the ball into the net from close range. 1-0 Celtic.
Griffiths was the creator for the second, cutting a free kick back to 25 yards from goal and although Tomas Cerny didn’t cover himself in glory it was another expert strike from Armstrong that hit the net.
Almost straight from the re-start Griffiths showed he has lost none of his goalscoring instinct by holding off a fender to curl a great left foot effort around Cerny.
There were a couple of wobbles with the linesman’s flag and a worrying dash from goal by Craig Gordon before Callum McGregor scored the fourth to give Celtic an 11 point lead with three home matches coming up in the next ten days.
