As a player Chris Sutton was certainly versatile with the striker happy to stand in at centre-half or even as a supporting midfielder behind Henrik Larsson and John Hartson.

In his new role as a football pundit the ex-Celt is equally versatile whether he’s on radio, television, in print or on line.

Last night he took on another role as Santa Claus as BT Sport did a send up of Celtic’s popular Christmas video which featured Scott Brown, Brendan Rodgers, Leigh Griffiths and Bertie Auld.

Sutton was at his best before during and after last night’s 4-1 win for Celtic at Firhill even though some of the home players seemed to be using the BT pundit for target practise as they warmed up.

Stephen Craigan was the target for a few jousts, especially over the appointment of Ian Cathro as manager of Hearts.

Predictably Craig Thomson came in for criticism, this time for not sending off Craig Gordon for a foul outside the penalty box that saw Thistle striker adebayo Azeez booked for simulation.
