SFA overturn yellow card decisions

Yesterday the SFA suffered the embarrassment of overturning two bookings issued by their top referees.

Booking for simulation are the only decisions that can be appealed with Partick Thistle and Hearts going down that route against cautions issued at the weekend.

Craig Thomson and John Beaton issued the cards but within a week of being booked Jamie Walker and Ade Azeez have had them removed from their record.

Azeez was booked after he raced onto a through ball and was confronted by Craig Gordon. It looked like the Celtic keeper collided with Azeez but Thomson issued a yellow card to the Thistle substitute.

After having the decision overturned the Thistle website said: “Following an appeal, lodged by the club to the SFA, the yellow card handed out to Ade Azeez for simulation during the match against Celtic on December 9th has been rescinded.”

The next day at Ibrox Jamie Walker was booked for simulation after clashing with Jamie Walker.

Yesterday the Hearts website stated: “Jamie Walker has had his yellow card, issued against Rangers on Saturday, rescinded.

The winger was booked for simulation by referee John Beaton during a first-half incident at Ibrox.

Hearts appealed the decision at Hampden today and the claim was upheld, meaning the caution has been removed from Jamie’s record.”

Thomson will referee the Ross County v Aberdeen match tomorrow, Beaton doesn’t have a game while Bobby Madden will be in charge of the Celtic v Dundee game.
