Southampton confirm that there is no £25m get out clause in van Dijk contract

Celtic will cash in in full when Virgil van Dijk leaves Southampton with the club confirming that there is no buy out clause in his contract.
Chelsea are the latest club to be linked with the Dutchman who left Celtic in August 2015 in a £10m deal.
Celtic had a clause inserted in the deal with Southampton that they would get a cut in any future profit from the sale of the defender with bids expected to start at £40m next month when the transfer window opens.
Responding to a a question about whether there was a £25m buy out clause in van Dijk’s contract The Mirror reports Saints boss Claude Peul said: “It is not true. After this I make no comment about speculation, just to say that Virgil is an important player for the team. For me it’s not a possibility to see him leave.”
Van Dijk has been in outstanding form this season prompting speculation of bids from Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Liverpool have a long history of signing players from Southampton, much like Southampton have with Celtic, while Everton boss Ronald Koeman knows all about the defender from their time together at St Mary’s last season.
With a sell on clause of between 10 and 15% Celtic look certain to get at least a £3m boost from the sale of the defender that they paid Groningen £2.5m for in 2013.
