Craig Thomson will referee Friday’s match between Partick Thistle and Celtic.

It is the FIFA whistler’s first Celtic match since the Betfred Cup semi-final between Celtic and Sevco on October 23.

That match featured a catalogue of unusual decisions highlighted by what appeared to be a perfectly good goal from Erik Sviatchenko being disallowed.

The Celtic defender perfectly positioned himself to glance home a header from a Scott Sinclair cross despite the attention of Clint Hill who seemed to fall to the ground in instalments.

With no appeal for a foul Thomson blew his whistle to award Sevco a free kick.

Going ahead early in the second half could have opened the door to a heavy win but the hoops had to wait until the 89th minute for Moussa Dembele to book their final place.

On Saturday Thomson was in charge of Falkirk’s 3-1 win over St Mirren, at Firhill Andrew Dallas will be his fourth official.

Celtic’s match next Tuesday at home to Hamilton Accies will be refereed by Crawford Allan, Saturday’s match between Sevco and Hearts will be refereed by John Beaton.
