Thirty-eight minutes into the match Erik Sviatchenko decided to give his strikers a helping hand against Ross County.

Striding forward from the halfway line the defender found space opening up then decided on a long range effort.

From somewhere between 30 and 35 yards his shot exploded low into the net to give Celtic the breakthrough they were needing.

It wasn’t quite as spectacular as Stuart Armstrong’s goal at Hamilton on Saturday but it’s hard to think of a goal scored from further out at Celtic Park.

In first half stoppage time Armstrong added a second and at that stage the points were virtually wrapped up.

Celtic move on to Ibrox on Saturday with only Tom Rogic missing from the squad as they seek to go 19 points clear of the magic hat with a game in hand.

Brendan Rodgers expects a battle, the Irishman won’t be disappointed with a win over Celtic the only way of lifting the gloom over Ibrox with their #goingfor55 slogan something they’d rather forget.
