Aberdeen want to take Ryan Christie to Pittodrie on loan.

According to a report in The Express Derek McInnes sees the attacking midfielder as the perfect replacement for James Maddison who has returned to Norwich City.

Christie has only started three Premier League matches this season but would almost be assured of a place every week at Pittodrie.

Ronny Deila signed Christie from Inverness Caley Thistle for £500,000 in August 2015 with an agreement that the player was instantly loaned back to the highland side.

Ironically Christie scored the winning goal that ended Aberdeen’s eight match winning start to last season but his time in the north was cut short as he returned to Celtic due to a knee injury.

Despite being fully fit he has struggled to make an impact at Celtic which would make a short term deal at Pittodrie ideal for all parties.

Aberdeen are 21 points behind Celtic and will visit the Champions elect next week.
