The agent for Murushidi Jjuko has claimed that Celtic are tracking the Uganda defender.

According to a report in The Sun Celtic have picked up on his performances at the African Cup of Nations and will watch Jjuko in action for his club side next month.

Agents talking up interest in their client usually means that Celtic’s interest has come to a halt and is designed to alert other clubs.

Jjuko has won 19 caps for Uganda and has played in all three group matches against Mali, Egypt and Ghana at the African Cup of Nations.

Brendan Rodgers comments after signing Eboue Kouassi has clearly indicated that the African market is one that Celtic wish to explore.

Over the last week Celtic have been strongly linked with Henry Onyekuru of Belgian side Eupen.

Changes of agents and the club attempting to get the striker to go to CSKA Moscow or RB Leipzig has complicated the deal but it seems that the striker’s preference would be to move to Celtic.

Meanwhile reports that Fulham are close to signing Nir Bitton have been dismissed with the midfielder not for sale.
