Chris Sutton believes that Brendan Rodgers deserves to get the midfielder he needs to take Celtic up another level.
After six months in charge of Celtic the former Liverpool boss has revived the hoops in every way possible.
On the park the team has picked up 58 out of 60 points in the SPFL, won the Betfred Cup and brought Champions League football back again.
Off the pitch season tickets sold at levels not seen for 15 years with season ticket holders anxious to go to matches rather than struggling to give their tickets away.
Sutton has watched the transformation at first hand and believes that Rodgers is due a Christmas bonus- in the transfer market.
“Brendan has to strengthen from a position of strength in the transfer window,” he explained in the Daily Record.
“I know the league is already won and there’s no Europe for the remainder of the season but that’s no reason to sit back and think it’s job done for the remainder of the season and I don’t believe for a minute that Rodgers will think that way.
“This is the time Celtic should finish Rangers now. If Brendan hasn’t earned the right to bring in a top-quality midfielder, there will never be a better time.”
