As he looks to bring in the players that could make an impact in the Champions League Brendan Rodgers will also be looking to clear out the final elements of Ronny Deila’s squad.
Rodgers ability to revive careers that seemed lost has been reinforced this month by the return of Dedryck Boyata.
The defender seemed to be a complete write off but after playing in the last three matches now looks like keeping Erik Sviatchenko out of the Celtic side.
Boyata seemed a spent force in every way with last season a traumatic first one of regular top team football.
When he hobbled off injured out of the Scottish Cup semi-final in April it seemed like an appropriate signing off point in his Celtic career- until Brendan decided otherwise.
Rodgers has already indicated that he wants to see Gary Mackay-Steven stay at the club rather than go out on loan but it does seem that there are a couple of players that are beyond Rodgers heeling powers.
While he waits to see if any of his targets come in over the next day or so- Rodgers will be hoping to word that some of the left overs are on their way.
