No place for Ferguson

The morning after resigning from Clyde Barry Ferguson is waking upto the news that there is no place for him at Sevco.

Across the board, whichever newspaper or website he chooses to look at, the message is the same for the former Clyde boss.

Despite the generosity of the old club providing him with a £2.5m EBT backed up by a side letter confirmed by his friends at BBC Scotland there will be no immediate offer coming from Ibrox.

With the club in a state of utter chaos, led by a man who tries to shrink into a Sports Direct jacket whenever he is on television, the situation could change depending on the appointment of a Director of Football or first team coach.

In his third season in charge of Clyde a 1-0 defeat away to Annan Athletic proved too much for Ferguson who offered his resignation after the match and had it accepted on Sunday afternoon.

Hapless Graeme Murty will remain in charge for Wednesday’s home match against St Johnstone when his managerial ability will be pitted against Tommy Wright- the sensible candidate for the Ibrox job but a guaranteed box office flop to stop seven-in-a-row.

With less than a fortnight to go until a trip to Celtic Park, described as daunting by Murty in one of his first media conferences, it’s likely that a Real Rangers Man will be asked to assist Murty for what looks like being his final match in charge.

Whether Ferguson fancies being involved in that fixtures remains to be seen but stepping in at the club’s moment of need may come with a promise.
