Scott Sinclair has admitted that some of the ‘tackles’ he has faced in recent games have been vicious.

Last week Brendan Rodgers asked for referees to respect his players after X-rated challenges on Sinclair and Kieran Tierney in successive games.

The former Aston Villa man was the victim of a brutal challenge from Iain Vigurs that crossed the border between being competitive and nasty.

Speaking to the Daily Record Sinclair admitted: “If you’re a quick winger you’re always going to get brought down a few times – it’s all part of the game.

I’ve been used to it in my career. In the past few games I’ve been getting doubled up
and man-marked as well.

The only problem is when it’s a little more vicious. There have been a couple where some of them maybe should have been sent off but hopefully the ref can take note of these.”

Sinclair is likely to be up against Vigurs again in midweek when Celtic travel north to face an Inverness Caley Thistle side fighting for survival in the Premiership.

In 26 league games Celtic have won 25 with the only blip, a draw, coming away to Inverness in September.

Since scoring on his debut away to Hearts in August Sinclair has notched 14 SPFL goals from 20 starts and three appearances as a substitute, one goal less than Moussa Dembele’s league total.
