There’s little doubt that the SFA are loyal to their match officials.

Less than a fortnight after issuing embarrassing apologies for their honest mistakes Craig Thomson and Andrew Dallas will be in the spotlight with live televised matches on Sunday.

Thomson phoned Tommy Wright to say sorry after awarding a penalty against St Johnstone in the 5-2 defeat from Celtic.

On Sunday Thomson will referee Sevco’s visit to Dundee, earlier this season he took charge of the same fixture and came in for criticism for his failure to send off Harry Forrester.

Before Thomson looks out his whistle Sky viewers will be able to watch Dallas Jnr in action when he takes charges of the Kimarnock v Hearts match, last week Dallas Jnr phoned up Ian Cathro to apologise over the comical booking of Malaury Martin when Louis Moult of Motherwell was decked by his team-mate Lionel Ainsworth.

Dallas and Thomson are on the elite FIFA list of referees and are virtually bomb proof from demotion with the SFA paid to ensure that the FIFA listed officials are given the top fixtures.

Don Robertson will referee the Celtic v Motherwell game on Saturday.
