Celtic stretched their lead at the top of the Premiership to 27 points with a 5-2 win away to St Johnstone.

Eleven days earlier the two teams had played out a 1-0 home win at Celtic Park with the suggestions going into yesterday’s match being that it would be another close encounter.

Celtic looked firmly in control when the recalled Liam Henderson opened the scoring but before half-time the homeside were in front thanks to a header from Keith Watson and a Dedryck Boyata own goal.

Brendan Rodgers waited until the 59th minute to make a substitution with Moussa Dembele equalising from the penalty spot two minutes after getting on.

That was the signal for Celtic to move up a gear or two with Scott Sinclair netting either side of goals from Dembele who completed his hat-trick at the end of 24 passes involving every player in the team!

Next up for Celtic is a visit from Motherwell on March 18 as Rodgers’ side close in on a sixth successive title.
