Sevco’s nightmare season continued today with a 2-1 defeat away to Dundee leaving them 30 points behind Celtic after just 25 games.

The weekend results mean that the #goingfor55 campaign can be over and done with on March 12 when they visit Celtic Park.

After the derby fixture there will be 10 matches and 30 points to play for meaning that if both sides take equal points from their next two matches a home win on March 12 will put the hoops 33 clear and out of reach for the tribute act.

On Friday Sevco visit Inverness Caley Thistle then host bogey team St Johnstone while Celtic host Hamilton and travel to Dundee.

In his first SPFL match as a real manager Graeme Murty watched his side turn in an insipid display, trailing to goals from Mark O’Hara and Kevin Holt at the interval.

Joey Garner scored a second half consolation but other than lots of great running with no purpose there was nothing for the Ibrox side to salvage from today’s match.

With Aberdeen winning earlier in the day at Kilmarnock Derek McInnes’ side are six points ahead of Sevco in second place with their goal difference 21 better than the tribute act.
