Rakish Bingham has admitted that he can’t believe how John Beaton and his Main Stand assistant both missed Wes Foderingham’s handball against Hamilton Accies.

Early in the first half the Sevco keeper raced out of his box to control a pass that Bingham was racing onto, realising that he was outside the 18 yard box he began backtracking before falling to the deck to grab the ball outside his penalty box.

Any reasonably positioned assistant would have spotted the incident and flagged for the referee’s attention.

Applying the laws of the game Foderingham would have been sent off and Hamilton awarded a free kick 18 yards from goal against a substitute keeper making his company debut.

Speaking to the Accies website Bingham said: “He has made contact with his hands and the ball, the whole ball, outside of the box and carried it back inside the penalty area.

“I don’t know if my position has somehow blocked the linesman’s view, I don’t know but it seemed pretty obvious to me that it was outside the box to my eyes.

“It should be a red card and then it’s a completely different game, eleven against ten, and that would have made it a lot harder for them.

I claimed for it and saw it. Obviously, the linesman and referee didn’t see it. These big decisions can cost you in games like these, especially coming away to a big team in a place like this but sometimes it goes against you and sometimes it goes for you, unfortunately today it didn’t.”

Shortly afterwards Sevco were awarded a penalty whern Jon Toral kicked the ground and fell over, tellingly Beaton didn’t take any action against the Hamilton defender ‘involved.

Ten minutes into the second half Joe Garner was only booked for a full blooded kick at Dougie Imrie that saw his boot crack into the Hamilton players hip. As both men fell to the ground Garner was seen laughing at Imrie’s misfortune.
