Sevco turn to Caixinho

Sevco manager in waiting Pedro Caixinha has been endorsed by Marc Crosas and Vladimir Weiss!

The 48-year-old managerial genius seems to be at the top of Stewart Robertson’s list of outstanding candidates and in line to wear the magic hat last seen on Mark Warburton.

Apart from one indifferent season in mid table in the Portuguese League Caixinha has mainly managed outside of Europe, off the radar perhaps, and is currently in charge of Qatar giants Al Gharafa.

Last season, under the guidance of Caixinha, Al Gharafa finished in ninth place in the 14 team Qatar Stars League. It’s not known if Sevco have contacted any of the eight managers that finished above the new Ibrox pin up boy.

This season Al Gharafa are in fifth place with 11 wins from 23 matches- a record similar to Sevco under Wardo and Murts.

Without the money to pay off Warbo and his management team the ‘chase’ for the little known Portuguese manager buys the Ibrox side a little time although Sunday March 12 is one date that Robbo and his Ibrox executives aren’t looking forward to.

If appointed the new man will be known as Mr Caixinha or Caxo.

Having failed spectacularly with a former city trader handing the task of stopping 10-in-a-row to Caixinha seems a high risk strategy but if that move falls through there is always the comfort blanket of Alex McLeish to fall back on after the forensic search for a proven winner draws a blank.

During his spell as manager of Rangers (IL) McLeish had his salary enhanced by £1.5m of ‘tax-free’ EBT payments.
