Chris Sutton has endorsed a poll asking if BT Sport should get exclusive rights to SPFL football.

Last week it was claimed that BT Sport were preparing a £31m a year deal for the new contract that starts in season 2020/21.

While that is a big improvement on the current £21m a year package from Sky Sports and BT Sport it still falls way short of other comparable deals.

Rugby League and the Rugby Union both have deals currently worth £50m per season which has allowed those sports to develop and market despite being up against the massive shadow cast EPL football.

BT Sport have won praise for their hands on approach to Scottish football with detailed debate about the issues before and after matches.

They inherited the current rights deal from ESPN but have taken a number of crucial television deals from Sky Sports most notably the rights to Champions League and Europa League football.
