Celtic have been linked with a move for Riley McGree of Adelaide United.
According to a report in Adelaide Now the 18-year-old midfielder has caught the attention of Celtic scouts after forcing his way into the full international team.
McGree gets his chance with the national squad due to an injury to Tom Rogic and has been included for this months World Cup qualifiers against Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
The 18-year-old seems similar to Rogic from the video clip compiled by the Aspire Management Group.
There’s an aggressive streak to his game with an eye for goal that has earned him an international call up after just 14 club appearances, all but one coming this season.
While McGree catches the eye Rogic is expected to be back in contention for a first team return in a fortnight’s time.
A nasty ankle injury picked up against Dundee before Christmas recurred at training in January resulting in surgery.
Celtic are putting Rogic through a pre-season training programme that will see him return to action, go off to the Confederations Cup with Australia in June then return fully match fit for Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers.
