The Daily Record has finally turned on Dave Murray.

The newspaper that kept James Traynor in succulent lamb for decades and introduced the world to a billionaire from Motherwell made a dramatic change in policy at lunchtime today.

More than 24 hours after David Murray admitted in court what every bampot has known about for years the Record has informed it’s online readers that Rangers (IL) used the EBT scam to buy players that they couldn’t afford.

Murray made the admission at the Craig Whyte trial on Wednesday morning with followers of James Doleman quick to jump on the slip up.

Online The Sun ran with the headline, STV turned a blind eye and the BBC slipped it in at paragraph 34 of their state funded website.

On Tuesday no mainstream outlet touched on the fact, confirmed by former Ibrox Finance Director Donald McIntyre, that wee tax case was due from November 2010 with the club declaring no due payables in the UEFA licence application to the SFA in March 2011. Dave King, Paul Murray and Andrew Dickson were involved in that decision and hold office in the new club.

Breaking the news 24 hours late the online Record declared:

With no name against the story it remains to be seen whether the Record will compete for breaking news from the Craig Whyte trial or will be selective about what detail to break to their readership.

Murray was spared from a second day in the witness box after one of the jurors reported ill overnight.
