Graeme Souness fears that Brother Pedro won’t be able to overcome Celtic.

After the euphoria of a 4-0 win over Hamilton Accies reality kicked in on Saturday as Motherwell took a point home from Ibrox.

That result left Sevco 10 points adrift of Aberdeen with the two clubs meeting on Sunday at Pittodrie.

Dave King’s flying visit boosted morale as he dispersed moonbeams but by the end of next week it could be all over for the South African based criminal if he fails to comply with the verdict from the Takeover Appeal Board.

Celtic’s emphatic win at Hearts on Sunday to clinch the title emphasised the gulf between the sides with the hoops now 35 points clear of Charles Green’s tribute act.

It’s a world away from the free spending days of Dave Murray who was able to issue Souness with an EBT while managing Blackburn Rovers.

Asked about Caixinha’s prospects by the Sporting Life website Souness admitted: “It will be very difficult for him to go to Rangers at a difficult time in their history.

“They’ve got a lot less money to spend than Celtic and qualifying for the Champions League each year is getting further away for them. He’s got an enormous job on his hands.”

The Q and A was for Sky Sports who will cover both Glasgow derbies at the end of this month.
