Chris Sutton has warned Brother Pedro not to be fooled by the appearance of his old banger.

#Goingfor55 was officially dead and buried with 10 matches left to play while the Betfred Cup was surrendered to Celtic at Hampden after registering just one shot at goal.

During the January transfer window Matt Gilks was the only player that attracted an offer with Wigan taking the veteran keeper back to the lower reaches of the Championship.

Sutton called out the limitations of Mark Warburton at the start of the season and isn’t fooled by the claims of early miracles from the fifth best coach in Qatar.

Rangers were like an unreliable old banger under Mark Warburton,” he recalled in the Daily Record.

Pedro has come in and serviced it, spray painted it and put a Rolls Royce badge on it.

It is looking good and making all the right noises with Pedro as the driver but it is still an old banger and could start falling apart in the coming weeks or early next season.

It may have a last hurrah against Celtic but this Rangers squad needs a summer overhaul to keep up to speed with Celtic.”

Sevco’s Hampden hopes suffered a blow at training yesterday when Wes Foderingham injured a knee ruling him out of contention for Sunday’s match.

Former Port Vale shot-stopper Jak Alnwick is likely to be called in for his debut although teenager Robbie McCrorie has played in the last two Development League fixtures.

There are also unconfirmed reports that Emerson Hyndman may also miss the match through injury although Clint Hill appears to be winning his fitness battle to amble around Hampden.
