Warbo’s woes

Mark Warburton has taken Nottingham Forest to the brink of relegation from the Championship.

Yesterday’s 1-0 defeat at Cardiff left the former European Cup winners a point ahead of Blackburn Rovers in third bottom place.

Despite a lifetime of learning about management the former city trader has picked up just five points out of 18 from six matches in charge of Forest.

The glory days of hammering Raith Rovers and Queen of the South with players earning ten times what their opponents were earning is a distant memory with Neil Warnock exposing Warbo’s failings yesterday afternoon.

It could be said that the former city trader’s reputation has never recovered from watching Sevco get hammered 5-1 by Celtic in September with Forest now pinning their hopes on the former Ibrox boss to come up with the goods.

“We created some good chances to score, but I’m disappointed we conceded a goal from 25 yards because I thought we did more than enough to get a point,” the Sporting Life reported.

“We are where we are and I’m not getting away from that. But if we play like we did today and show the desire and work ethic we did, then we’ll be okay. I hope the supporters saw that in our performance because this is a very tough place to come.”

On Saturday Forest are at home to third placed Reading followed by matches against QPR and Ipswich.

Blackburn are away at Wolves on Saturday followed by matches against Aston Villa and Brentford.
