After less than two days the ‘official’ Craig Whyte twitter account has been removed.

On Sunday night interest was peeked as @craigwhyte22 appeared on the social media network accompanied by a nervous looking selfie.

Whyte will appear in court today at the start of a trial alleging that he fraudulenty bought the Ibrox club for £1 in 2011. Many would suggest that it was Dave Murray that got the better of that deal.

The trial promises to unearth a lot of the mysteries that have surrounded Scottish football over the last decade or so as the demise of Rangers into administration and liquidation comes out into the open.

After being unveiled as a billionaire Mr Whyte finally took over from Murray after six months of negotiations brought the price down to £1.

Delivering Champions League football and robbing HMRC had kept the club afloat for a number of years but luck ran out on Whyte when Ally McCoist’s side lost to Malmo then wilted under the pressure of Neil Lennon’s Celtic in the SPL.

Whyte became the fall guy for administration and liquidation but with hundreds of documents and conversations leaked through the Charlotte Fakes twitter account some of the biggest names in football will be tuning in nervously to the trial that opens up today.
